Automotive broadcaster to stay live on air from 8am to 8am in a bid to raise funds for the industry's charity

Garage Talk Radio, the UK's automotive aftermarket radio station, has announced a special 24-hour live radiothon in support of Ben, the automotive industry charity which provides health and wellbeing support for automotive people.

Beginning at 8:00am on Thursday 20th August and continuing through to 8:00am on Friday 21st August, Garage Talk Radio founder Ben Coates will remain live on air for a full 24 hours, raising awareness and vital funds for a charity that supports thousands of people across the automotive sector every year.

Throughout the challenge, Ben will be joined by members of the Garage Talk team, industry leaders, special guests and supporters from across the automotive aftermarket. The broadcast will feature interviews, discussion, listener interaction, industry debate and entertainment, creating a unique event designed to bring the automotive community together for a worthy cause.

A dedicated fundraising page has already been launched, allowing businesses, listeners and supporters to donate directly to Ben ahead of and during the challenge: https://giving.ben.org.uk/cf/24-hour-radiothon-garage-talk-radio

Ben is the charity dedicated to supporting the people of the automotive industry, providing health and wellbeing support for life for them and their family dependents. Ben delivers life-changing and often lifesaving support for those who are struggling or in crisis. Ben works with people to improve their lives by enhancing their health and wellbeing through its free and confidential online and digital self-help, through its helpline, support and specialist services.

Ben Coates said: "The automotive industry has always looked after its own, and Ben is at the heart of that support network. We spend a lot of time talking about the challenges facing garages, technicians and the wider aftermarket, but this is an opportunity to do something practical and give something back.

"I'll be live on air for 24 hours straight, joined by guests and members of the Garage Talk team throughout the challenge, and we're hoping the industry will get behind us and help raise as much money as possible for a fantastic cause.

"Garage Talk Radio was built to give the aftermarket a voice. This is our chance to use that voice to support the people who keep our industry moving every single day."

Ellen Plumer, Head of Awareness & Experience at Ben, said: "We're incredibly grateful to Ben Coates and everyone at Garage Talk Radio for taking on this challenge in support of Ben. Raising awareness is just as important as raising funds because the more people who know about Ben and the support available, the more people we can help.

"The automotive community is built on strong relationships, and initiatives like this bring people together while helping us spread the message that nobody in our industry has to face life's challenges alone. We wish Ben every success for the 24-hour broadcast and thank everyone who chooses to support the campaign."

The event will be broadcast live via Garage Talk Radio, with further details on guest appearances, fundraising activities and sponsorship opportunities to be announced in the coming weeks.
