Working in a care home isn't just a job to me; it's a calling deeply rooted in my desire for making a difference in people's lives, my passion for working in a care home stems from a genuine wish to make a positive impact, foster meaningful connections, which contribute to the well-being of others. The sense of fulfilment I get from helping others is unparalleled. Knowing that I have the chance to brighten someone's day, alleviate their discomfort, or simply lend a listening ear fills me with a profound sense of purpose. It's not just a profession; it's a privilege—one that I approach with dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment.
Mihail brings 30 years of nursing experience to Lynwood Care Home, from both hospital and care settings. He joined Lynwood Care Home in 2023 and since then has taken responsibility for developing exceptional nursing care provision to our residents and great leadership to the teams.
"Lynwood is a great environment for delivering care. What I like about it is how it’s structured into units, or as we call them ‘houses’, of 15 people. To me, it’s the ideal environment to enable us to care for people in a person-centred way and it’s one of the main reasons I wanted to work for Lynwood. When you walk into each house, it’s very relaxed, everyone’s happy, it really is home from home. Residents tell me that they feel at home here and that they feel safe, which is exactly what you want people to feel when they are living in a care home"
Another thing that attracted me to Lynwood is the Best Lives Model of Care, which allows nursing staff plenty of time with residents, so we can use our clinical skills to the fullest extent. It will help us deliver an exceptional level of care because we are training our carers to a much higher standard than in many other care homes. They acquire nursing skills and other training which means the level of care they deliver is truly exceptional"
I joined Lynwood in 2003 as a Care Assistant and soon completed my Level 2 and 3 NVQs. I started working in the nursing house, then moved to work in residential where I completed my medication training.
In 2015 I was promoted to House Leader, and then soon after became Head of Person Centred Care.
I love my role as I deal with new admissions to the care home and manage the care teams, working alongside the Head of Clinical Care to provide to provide excellent care to our residents.
I have always been passionate about care and have always been drawn to this career. In my eyes it's not a job you do for money, but you need to genuinely care about people, and have empathy and patience to be in this line of work.
I enjoy working at Lynwood Care Home. I find the staff to be happy and approachable, and always put the residents first.
