Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall control and strategic direction of Ben. They meet regularly to discuss, decide and review our strategies and policies and receive reports and updates from Executive team. Our trustees work for Ben voluntarily to make sure we’re doing all we can to reach and improve the lives of people we support.

Steve Nash - Chair
Director, Steve Nash Automotive Ltd

Steve has been a very prominent figure in the UK's automotive industry, notably serving as CEO (and formerly Chairman and President) of the Institute of The Motor Industry (IMI) and as a director at BMW Group UK, where he managed Aftersales for all Group brands, including Rover and Land Rover whilst under BMW ownership. His career focused on improving industry standards and addressing a significant skills shortage, particularly with the advent of new technologies like electric and autonomous vehicles. He has also been inducted into both the AM and Motoring Halls of Fame.

Steve now manages his own consultancy, Steve Nash Automotive Ltd which he established in January 2025 and continues to support Ben – the automotive benevolent fund as a non-executive director and Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Robin Woolcock
Formerly Managing Director, Volkswagen Group (UK) Ltd

Robin spent over 46 years working within the automotive industry from graduate trainee to managing director of a successful, large automotive group across the UK, with a turnover of £6billion/yr.

Commercially retired, Robin holds non-executive roles as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the UK charity for Triple Negative Breast Cancer as well as being on the Board of Trustees for Ben, the automotive benevolent fund.

Jeremy Hicks
Market Performance Director, Jaguar Land Rover

Jeremy is currently Market Operations Director for JLR. This is role is a connector of their brands: Range Rover, Defender, Discovery and Jaguar to their Regions and markets ensuring delivery of their key objectives. Prior to this he was Managing Director for JLR UK overseeing overall performance and growth in this key ‘home’ region. 

Jeremy joined JLR from Audi UK where he held the position of Managing Director after also enjoying a number of roles in Volkswagen Group including Volkswagen Sales Director and Director for Group Services.

Jeremy started his Career at Vauxhall Motors where he had a number of positions across both sales and aftersales. His only time outside of direct automotive OEM was with Quadrangle Consulting where he was a director. 

Graeme Potts
CEO, Eden Motor Group

Graeme Potts has enjoyed a highly successful and wide-ranging career in the automotive retail and business service sectors spanning over 40 years. After a spell as a Graduate Manager at Marks & Spencer, Graeme started his automotive career at Reg Vardy, rising to the position of Chief Executive Officer. Following Reg Vardy, Graeme enjoyed eight years with large PLCs – firstly as Group Managing Director of RAC Motoring Services, and then with Inchcape PLC as Managing Director UK, Europe and Latin America.

In 2008, Graeme established Eden Motor Group, which is today operating twenty dealerships, representing Vauxhall, Hyundai, Mazda, MG, and Peugeot brands. As well his role as Chief Executive Officer of Eden Motor Group, Graeme has extensive non-executive director experience as Chairman of the Institute of Motoring, Chair of the Audit Committee at BEN - the automotive charity, and also a Trustee of Premier Christian Media Trust. Graeme is also a Board advisor to DBF Autos, Bordeaux and a US based Investment House.

Mark Outhwaite
Director, Outhentics Consulting Limited

Mark has worked in and alongside the NHS and Social Care for almost 30 years as an NHS CEO, a director of a national NHS Agency, a non-executive director of an NHS Mental Health Trust and currently as an independent consultant specialising in change management, supporting senior teams navigate complex challenges and technology adoption. As a Trustee for Ben, Mark’s considerable experience in change management and information technology implementation and adoption puts Ben in a stronger position for further development and transformation.

Will Dalton
Formerly Finance Director, Hartford Care Group Ltd

Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1987, Will has worked in a number of senior finance roles, helping SME businesses achieve their growth objectives in a variety of sectors. These include construction, manufacturing, payment card processing, and, most recently, the care industry, where Will spent 5 years as Finance Director of Hartford Care Group Limited.

Following commercial retirement, Will is focused on contributing to value-driven organisations within the Not-For-Profit sector, utilising his commercial skills and experience in order to give something back. As well as being a non-executive director on the Board of Trustees for Ben – the automotive benevolent fund, he is also Vice Chair on the Board of Trustees of the Amica Care Trust which provide specialist care for older people and those suffering from dementia.

Shirley Hall
Director of Care and Wellbeing, Royal Star & Garter

Shirley is currently the Director of Care & Wellbeing at the Royal Star & Garter.  Shirley worked for 10 years in the NHS, specialising in cardiac care and setting up rehab services. She then joined the British Heart Foundation, where she developed its pioneering ‘Hearty Lives’ programme. She has gone on to hold a variety of senior roles at organisations including the Retirement Villages Group and The ExtraCare Charitable Trust.

Shirley has also worked closely with the national Gold Standards Framework, the UK’s leading training provider for generalist frontline staff in caring for people in the last years of life.  With her considerable experience in health and wellbeing, Shirley supports Ben - the automotive benevolent fund, as a non-executive director on the Board of Trustees.

Katherine Latham
Finance Director, McLaren Automotive

Katherine has worked in the automotive sector for 25 years having worked at a number of UK and international manufacturers. She is a Chartered Accountant who seeks to balance the flexibility required of today’s corporate environment with the robust compliance and transparent financial accountability demanded by stakeholders. 

Katherine is currently Finance Director for McLaren Automotive based in Woking. She also supports the industry as a non-executive director on the Board of Trustees for Ben.

Tracey Newton
Tracey Newton
Group People Director, JCT600

Tracey has worked in HR since 2001, firstly as a senior Rewards professional across many well-known brands such as Centrica, Lloyds TSB and Arla Foods, then moving into directorship level with Manchester Airport where she was Rewards Director.

Tracey had a leadership role with Yorkshire Building Society, as Director of People Performance then latterly Director of Colleague Experience. Tracey is currently Group People Director of JCT600, one of the top ten automotive retailers in the UK with a turnover of £1.1b and continues to support the industry as a non-executive director on the Board of Trustees for Ben – the automotive benevolent fund.
