Wellbeing

Wellbeing is generally how comfortable, healthy or happy we are within in our own lives. Wellbeing is unique to each person and can mean different things to different people.

What is wellbeing?

Wellbeing is generally how comfortable, healthy or happy we are within in our own lives. Wellbeing is unique to each person and can mean different things to different people. At Ben, we help people learn about, develop and manage each area of their own wellbeing.

Wellbeing is really important because it can give us the tools to cope with changes to our mental and physical health but if our wellbeing is good, it can also help protect our mental and physical health.

We concentrate on six main areas of wellbeing:

  1. MyHome
This is about shelter, where we live, at home in a community. It’s important for us to feel safe and secure, as well as feeling like part of a community.

  2. MyMoney
This is how we manage money and finances in the short, medium and long-term. Managing money includes planning ahead for the future.

  3. MyNetwork
This is about how we are supported and the quality of our relationships. This includes our personal relationships, those with work colleagues and every other area of our lives - find out more about building connections.

  4. MyLifestyle
This is how we manage and prefer to live our life and includes routine, sleep, physical activity, eating and drinking, substance use, recreational activities, self-care etc.

  5. MyEmotions
This is about how we manage our emotions. It’s how we maintain a positive outlook and understand the relationship between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

  6. MySelf
This is about our own values, beliefs, purpose and what we find meaningful in life. When we are aware of our own personal strengths and talents, we can enjoy a more fulfilling life.
